Inground Pool Costs Are Going Up!

--

The average cost to install an inground pool is $35,000 with most pool buyers spending between $28,000 and $55,000 according to Pool Contractor. The additional costs associated with pool ownership for pool service, increased utilities, and repairs range from $2,500 to $5,000 every year.

Cost To Install An Inground Pool

With the Covid-19 Pandemic, there has been a serious impact on the pool industry which has impacted now only how much an inground pool costs, but also how long an inground pool takes to build.

Costs have gone up roughly 30% because of shortages of labor and materials. California is currently having a serious shotcrete shortage which is being felt statewide. Because of the surge in demand, the typical turn around time to complete a pool has increased substantially by an average of 3–4 weeks. The normal pool construction process is 6–8 weeks, meaning you could be staring at a hole in your backyard for roughly 3 months or longer.

It’s impossible to even get a pool estimate right now due to the number of requests pool companies are getting, there simply isn’t enough hours in the day to accomodate everyone. Roughly 50% of the amount of homeowners looking to build an inground pool this year have found out there is simply no way to build their pool until 2021. Many pool builders have simply reached capacity and are unable to take on any more work this year.

On my website PoolContractor.com one homeowner emailed us and said “In my market in Houston, every pool builder is slammed and can’t even give me an estimate right now.”

I sent him a link and said “We built a pool calculator that gives pool prices in real time. So if you need pricing, you can use that tool to get it.” He responsed “Thanks, the only pool company that could give me an estimate said it would be 4 weeks before they could get in my backyard, this really helps.”

Experts predict it’s going to stay like this for a while. Consumer confidence in the stock market is going to keep the pool industry white hot for the foreseeable future everyone wants a pool. It’s buying a pool that may not be so easy.
